I took a walk around the back lot of Kmart last week, this area has a lot of very pragmatic industrial elements and is visually a quite harsh and unappealing environment, but also crawling with strange and surprising examples of texture, light, and other elements of design. I thought this was an interesting example of texture. It involves both natural (moss) and manmade elements (asphalt) -I find the dynamic of growth vs. decay particularly interesting.
Another from the Kmart lot... This industrial safety light fixture cold and still, glowing orange against the grey sky I thought to be a haunting presence.
